Scripture Reading:
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”  Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)

Stephen was one of the earliest and most courageous followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. His passion for truth could not be silenced. When he stood before his accusers, filled with the Holy Spirit, his words pierced their hearts—but their response was rage, not repentance. They dragged him out of the city and stoned him. Yet even in death, Stephen’s face shone like that of an angel (Acts 6:15).

To the onlookers, it may have seemed like a tragedy—a young servant of God struck down in his prime. But heaven saw something else entirely: victory. Stephen’s death was no defeat—it was a seed. The same crowd that took his life could not extinguish the light that burned within him. In fact, that light became the spark that awakened Saul of Tarsus, who would one day become the Apostle Paul (Acts 9). The martyr’s faith was the match that lit a revival.

In our day, we have seen modern echoes of that same unshakable courage. When Charlie Kirk was assassinated on September 9, 2025, his ministry and message did not die with him—they multiplied. His wife, Erika, spoke words that sounded like those of faith-filled saints before her:

“Those responsible for my husband’s death have no idea what they have unleashed. If you thought his mission was powerful before, you have no idea what God is about to do now.”

And indeed, the power of God has been on display. Churches have overflowed. Hearts have turned back to Christ. And like Stephen’s witness to Saul, many believe that even those who participated in Charlie’s death—perhaps even one man, Tyler Robinson—may one day encounter the same Light that transforms enemies into ambassadors of grace.

God often uses what looks like tragedy to turn the tide of history. The blood of the martyrs has always been the seed of revival. Out of ashes, He raises up armies of light-bearers who will not bow to fear but stand boldly for truth.

So today, ask yourself: Is my light shining before others? Can those around me see God in my actions, and hear His heart in my words? The world doesn’t need more noise—it needs more light. Be that light. Your witness, even in suffering, may be the spark that ignites someone else’s faith.

Reflect & Pray:
Lord, may my life shine so brightly that others see You in me. Give me courage to stand firm when the world resists the truth, and confidence that no act of faithfulness is ever wasted in Your kingdom. Use my light to draw others to Your eternal love. Amen.

Your light is never lost when it’s given to God—it shines longest when it costs the most.
